In the village of Lalbhitiya, Siraha District, Sumita Kumari Saday, a 13-year-old girl, had to drop out of school after Grade 5 due to financial struggles. Despite hardships, her love for learning never faded, and she dreamed of becoming a teacher.

A new hope arrived, when CARE Nepal in collaboration with a local partner Samagra Jan Utthan Kendra, launched the UDAAN V Project to support out-of-school girls. Sumita’s story was noticed alongside other girls in similar situations. Ram Janaki Community Learning Center was set up in her village, reigniting their passion for education.

Sumita says, “My dream is to become a teacher because, like me, many sisters are out of school. I will help them get an education and teach them like a real teacher.” With support from the program and the guidance of a UDAAN facilitator, her dream is closer than ever!

Today, Sumita is back in school and strengthening her foundation through a remedial class. She balances studies and household chores, making her mother Gauri Devi proud of her determination.

Sumita’s journey shows how education can change lives. From out of school to pursuing her dreams, Sumita is an inspiration to all.
